Stainless steel is very easy to clean.

Mixing a gentle detergent or domestic soap with warm water and wiping over the installation with a soft microfiber cloth, should be adequate.  Take a dry microfiber cloth and gently wipe the installation dry. We recommend that you apply Autosol chrome polish to your new product in accordance with the instructions on the tube.

For those instances where your products have not been looked after and may have deteriorated, we suggest the following methods in the table below.  We suggest the Autosol Metal Care Kit to be used in accordance with the instructions on the packaging.

Routine Cleaning Gentle detergent and household soap diluted in warm water Using a microfiber cloth, sponge the soapy water over the stainless steel to remove all surface dirt and grime.  Wipe over with a dry microfiber cloth to shine.
Fingerprints Methylated spirits; soap and warm water; Wipe over using a microfiber cloth. Use a dry clean microfiber cloth to wipe dry.
Stubborn stains and discolouration Autosol stainless steel cleaner;

Specialty stainless steel cleaners or a sprinkle of baking soda.  Leave to absorb the deposit for a few minutes then wipe away

Use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge. A soft nylon or natural bristle brush will be useful. Follow instructions on the packaging of the product you have chosen
Lime deposits from hard water Mix one part vinegar to three parts warm water. Use a soft nylon or natural bristle brush to loosen the deposits. Rinse well with water then dry with a microfiber cloth
Oil and/or grease marks Use organic solvents or Autosol stainless steel cleaners or the Autosol Metal Care Kit. Clean with mild soap and water after use or follow the instructions on the packaging.  Dry with a microfiber cloth
Rust and tea stains Rust stains can be removed by using the Autosol Metal Care kit. You must follow the instructions on the packaging.


Solvents that recommend the use of gloves when handling should be diluted and used according to the directions on the packaging.  Suggesting the use of gloves is a good indication that the product is harsh and should not be used in confined spaces.

Avoid smoking when using any solvent or chemical.
